For a goalie who wanted to be healthy and reliable this season, Woll has not gotten off to a good start. It's a good thing the Maple Leafs have goaltending depth out the wazoo.

The Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t even played a game yet and already Woll is hurt. It will be Anthony Stolarz starting the opener in Montreal, not Woll, who couldn’t play in Game 7 last spring because of injury and is now dealing with another undisclosed ailment.

The Toronto Maple Leafs decided over the summer that Joseph Woll was the goaltender they intended to move forward with, and allowed Ilya Samsonov to depart via free agency. The team also secured the services of Florida Panthers goaltender Anthony Stolarz to be his backup.
