McDonald’s said it was taking “swift and decisive action” to control the outbreak that has sickened dozens of people, mainly in Colorado and Nebraska.

E. coli food poisoning linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers has sickened at least 49 people in 10 states, including one person who died and 10 who were hospitalized, federal health officials said Tuesday.

McDonald’s Quarter Pounder burgers and some ingredients will be temporarily unavailable in some states to protect customers after the food was linked to an E. coli outbreak, according to a press release from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday.

According to multiple reports and confirmation from the CDC, the McDonald's quarter pounder has now been linked to an E. coli outbreak affecting several states.

Several people across 10 states have been hospitalized with E. coli, with most of those telling health officials that they ate a Quarter Pounder before they became sick, the CDC said.
