A Virginia man said a trip to the store that started with a joke about winning the lottery ended with his winning a $1 million jackpot.

All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. Richmond received more than $27.9 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
