Knowing much of Wednesday’s press conference would revolve around Pete Alonso’s fast-approaching free agency, David Stearns told the first baseman he was about to answer a multitude of questions

Stearns said the two did not talk contract, and in fact have never spoken “face-to-face” about Alonso’s free agency since Stearns joined the organization after the 2023 season.

We can only imagine the dialogue that the free agent to be's heroic postseason is generating between the Mets owner and front office leader.
