Unfortunately, this weekend has brought House of the Dragon fans another disappointing update. According to Variety, cast members Tom Glynn-Carney and Matt Smith revealed during a New York Comic-Con panel for the show that they don’t really know what the status of House of the Dragon season 3 is right now.

"The wigs are hard," Smith, 41, admitted, and Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon, agreed, naming the "wigs, the bald caps [and] the pins" required for the signature platinum Targaryen hair among the challenges. What's worse is that Smith has learned there's potentially a better way for him to transform into Daemon.

Matt Smith told audiences at New York Comic-Con that he hadn't "heard a thing" about "House of the Dragon" season three. Season two wrapped up in August with a finale widely regarded as muted because it focused on the emotional development of its characters rather than a fight scene or dramatic death.

House of the Dragon season 3 looks to be a ways away. At a New York Comic Con panel on Oct. 20, Matt Smith, Tom Glynn-Carney and Fabien Frankel were asked what they know about the next chapter in the Game of Thrones prequel series.

House of the Dragon season 3 is definitely on the way, though production progress might be slower than we'd hope. Speaking at New York Comic Con, three of the stars gave some less than promising updates on the upcoming season of HBO's hit fantasy show.
