Hurricane Oscar made landfall on Great Inagua Island in the Bahamas and is forecast to strike in eastern Cuba on Sunday afternoon, the US National Hurricane Center said.

Hurricane Oscar made landfall early Sunday in the southeastern Bahamas and was heading toward Cuba, an island recently beleaguered by a massive power outage. The National Hurricane Center in Miami said the storm's center arrived on Great Inagua island.

Hurricane Oscar has formed off the coast of the Bahamas, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Saturday. The storm poses potential threats to surrounding areas of the southeastern Bahamas and is expected to bring hurricane conditions and produce a storm surge on the Turks and Caicos Islands, with heavy rainfall, the NHC said.
