The Fort Bend County Republican Party is expected to gather Tuesday as County Judge KP George's attorneys filed a motion to throw out the indictment against him linked to a social media hoax with his former chief of staff Taral Patel.

George was indicted Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of misrepresenting his identity during the 2022 elections, when George faced a challenge from Republican Trever Nehls.George is accused of using a fake Facebook account called Antonio Scalywag to harm Nehls’ campaign and sway the election his way.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George has filed a motion to dismiss the misdemeanor charge that he was working to post fake racist social media posts to help him in his 2022 reelection.

The motion argues that prosecutors did not have the authority to indict George before the Texas Ethics Commission ruled on the case.
