Yoshinobu Yamamoto outdueled Yu Darvish in a historic playoff matchup of Japanese-born starters, and the Los Angeles Dodgers got home runs from Kiké Hernández and Teoscar Hernández to beat the San Diego Padres 2-0 on Friday night and advance to the National League Championship Series.

San Diego will send Yu Darvish to the mound while Los Angeles will have rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitching in front of the home crowd. Darvish (7-3, 3.31 ERA) and Yamamoto (7-2, 3.00 ERA) both have excellent arms and will attempt to win the series for their squads.

The game marks the first time ever that two Japanese-born starters are going toe-to-toe in the MLB postseason. Yu Darvish has the starting nod for the Padres, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto is on the bump for the Dodgers.
